On January 12, 2017, a student at RHS made and sold 23 brownies that were laced with marijuana. Some students knew what they were buying while others did not. KPIC reports, “Those who did not know what they were buying later complained of having a stomach ache and were later taken to the hospital.” Now students and minors ranging from 14-16 years old are facing legal and disciplinary issues.

The Roseburg Police Department said “11 minors were cited for minor in possession of marijuana and 3 minors were cited for minors in the possession of tobacco. One student was cited for delivery of marijuana within a 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of over 16 ounces of marijuana.”

In Oregon, marijuana is legal for use for people over the age of  21. Anyone under the age of 21 is considered a minor. Minors who have marijuana with them are considered minors in possession of marijuana. If they are over the age but get caught delivering marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, they get charged with delivery of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. Anyone under 18 who has tobacco with them will get charged with minor in possession of tobacco.
