Spotlight on FBLA

FBLA, also known as Future Business Leaders of America is an extracurricular activity at our school. It became a middle level chapter in the year of 2020, and was started by state middle level officer and fellow student Skylar Knox.

“My brother was a part of FBLA at the high school. I did some research and found out that middle schools could have chapters and decided to start one here at Fremont,” stated Skylar Knox, and that is how she got the idea to start a chapter at our school.

In last year’s chapter there was a total of 12 students in the chapter. Last year there were a few community service activities that we did, including filling backpacks and cleaning up public gardens. This year Skylar Knox says that, “Hopefully this year we will be able to do another project like backpacks for kids.” This project is for the kids in foster care systems. We will fill up the backpacks with necessities and possibly a book so that all the kids that might not have much now have more stuff that they can take with them.

Along with the chance of doing community service, there are also events. In these events they give you questions that have to be answered. The events are optional but if you are an officer for our chapter they expect you to do them. “If Covid doesn’t change this, the State Business Leadership Conference will be in Portland, Oregon, and the National Leadership Conference will be in Chicago, Illinois,” states Skylar.

If you are interested in joining just show up to an FBLA meeting. They are held every Thursday after school till approximately around 3 pm, and any grade 6th-8th at our school is able to join.
